Implementing Agency

Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (founded in 1952) is the implementing body of the Project. It is a non-government voluntary organization of  intellectuals and scholars dedicated to the study of  'Man and Nature of Asia' covering its various aspects. Registered under the Societies Registration Act  XXI of 1860, it is purely a research oriented non-political and non-profit organization and  its sole pursuit being the promotion of research and fulfillment of intellectual curiosity. The President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is the Chief Patron of the Society.

As a premier learned organization in the country, the Society has  so far successfully completed academic projects like History of Bangladesh 1704-1971, 3 vols (1992), Banglapedia: National Encyclopedia of Bangladesh, 10 vols (2003), Banglapedia Second Edition, 14 vols (2012), Cultural Survey of Bangladesh, 12 vols (2007), Encyclopedia of Flora and Fauna of Bangladesh, 28 vols (2007), in both Bangla and English versions and Celebration of 400 Years of Capital Dhaka, 20 vols (2008).
